A webinar later this month will cover a key piece of 2030 Census planning and preparation: the Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA), which begins in May 2027.
LUCA is the chance for states and localities to help correct the Census Bureau’s residential address list before the count, which will help make this an accurate decennial headcount.
The National League of Cities (NLC) and National Association of Counties (NACo) will present Countdown to LUCA : Practical Strategies for Local, Tribal and State Governments on October 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
“This webinar will feature Census activities currently underway in rural communities, urban neighborhoods and Tribal Nations. Speakers will demonstrate what effective early preparation looks like, share lessons learned and discuss strategies that leaders can use to improve address data, engage stakeholders and position their communities for a successful LUCA operation. In addition to highlighting promising practices, the webinar will help lay the groundwork for a peer-to-peer support network where local, Tribal and state leaders can connect, exchange ideas, and provide assistance throughout the LUCA process.”
