Share

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. the U.S. Senate Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee will hold a hearing: “A Review of the President’s Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request for the Department of Commerce.”

Since the Census Bureau is under Commerce, this may be the only opportunity during this year’s appropriations cycle for a Senate discussion of funding and specific issues for the Bureau.

On Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. the House Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Subcommittee will be holding a similar hearing with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The hearing will be streamed on the House Appropriations Committee website at: Budget Hearing – Fiscal Year 2026 Request for the Department of Commerce | House Committee on Appropriations – Republicans

The White House has yet to release a detailed FY 2026 budget and the Census Bureau was not mentioned in the skinny budget.
