Trump Administration Officially Disbands Census Advisory Committees

The U.S. Commerce Department posted a Federal Register Notice on June 10, 2025, officially terminating its federal advisory committees, including the 2030 Census Advisory Committee, Bureau of the Census Scientific Advisory Committee, Census Bureau National Advisory Committee on Racial, Ethnic, and Other Populations. The disbanding was done in accordance with Executive Order (E.O.) 14217, “Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy.” The Notice does not request public comments.

A coalition wrote to the Secretary of Commerce in May expressing concerns about the termination of these advisory committees.
